This is a one-day 4-5 hour introductory workshop that teaches the basic elements of the Unleased Acting Technique ("UAT"). UAT is a psychophysical imagination based approach to acting. This Technique frees an actor’s imagination to create and draw on experiences that far exceed his/her biographical experiences. Participants explore each component of the technique, including how to use the script in creating the character. This class is a prerequisite for the on-going and intensive classes.

On-going Scene Study
The On-going scene study class focuses on dramatic acting using an imaginative transformational approach. The UAT empowers you to use your imagination and creativity to create the character’s life. You explore the connection between thought, text and behavior to get to the core of who the character is and what drives him/her. Dramatic improvisation, physical experimentation, the art of breathing, and Unleashed BioDynamics may be used to stimulate the imagination.
Class size is intentionally kept small, ideally 12-14 students. Class meets once a week for 4 weeks, with the option to continue for an additional month. You will work every week. Scene partners will be assigned, and together you and your scene partner choose the material you bring to class. You are expected to use the UAT to prepare for class. You should be off-book and bring any necessary wardrobe and props. You work as if you are on set, which means NO PRIOR REHEARSAL before class. When going to set, there is no prior rehearsal, so there is no rehearsal before your first performance in class. In this class, you learn how to prepare on your own. Class helps you fine tune your choices, much like a director does on set.
